Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat is set in a forest wilderness overlooking the turquoise blue waters of Lake Pukaki.  It is right on the doorstep of Aoraki Mount Cook National Park located in the beautiful and unique Te Wāhipounamu World Heritage Area.  We are within 2-3 hours scenic drive of Wanaka or Queenstown and just 40 minutes from Lake Tekapo.

From your room you can enjoy uninterrupted views up Lake Pukaki to the Southern Alps and Aoraki Mt Cook, New Zealand's highest mountain.  And the night sky is spectacular as we are located within the gold level Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve.

Absolute Perfection!   My husband booked the Ashley Mckenzie Villa for our anniversary and it was out of this world. The owners have thought about every little detail. The villa is immaculate, the food sensational, the hot tub and sauna is bliss and the views are just stunning! This is by far the nicest place I have ever stayed and I cant wait to go back.     Tripadvisor review from LLMC_11 - Methven, NZ

Mark of Superiority and Distinction.  Having traveled the North and South Islands, staying at several accommodations, none compared to our stay at Mt. Cook's Lakeside retreat! The cottage was elegant in every way! The cuisine superb! The view...Breathtaking! The experience... "PERFECT!"  I couldn't consider a better place for a wedding than on the lawn with that turquoise lake and Mt. Cook in the background. Thank you for the personal tour of the southern sky in your observatory/wine cellar! WOW!!!  Thank you for making our wedding so amazing!   TripAdvisor Review by Patrick, Missouri

Amazing retreat. My wife and I stayed at this fabulous lodge and it turned out be one of the best places we have ever stayed in the world. The proprietors, Kaye and Luke were fantastic. The views and facilities were stunning. Food and wine was magnificent. Service was excellent. This is a must visit place in the South Island of New Zealand. Incredible views of Mount Cook.  Cannot say enough about this special place.  TripAdvisor review by Rory, Washington DC
