Our team can help you choose experiences that suit your interests, the season and the amount of adventure you are looking for.
Tasman Glacier Heli Hike
Take to the air before stepping onto New Zealand's largest glacier. Fly by helicopter into the Tasman Glacier before joining an experienced guide to explore its constantly changing world of ice. Depending on the season and conditions, travel across the glacier using crampons or snowshoes and discover ice formations created by a landscape that is continually moving and evolving.
Heli Picnic
Depart directly from the Retreat by private helicopter and see the Aoraki/Mount Cook landscape from an entirely different perspective. Your flight can include a remote mountain or glacier landing before continuing to a secluded picnic location, where a meal prepared by our chefs awaits. A very private way to combine landscape, food and adventure.
Fly Fishing
Spend time beside the rivers and waterways of the Mackenzie with a local fishing guide. Experiences can be tailored from a few hours to a longer day on the water, with transport from the Retreat to selected fishing locations. We encourage catch and release, allowing the experience to remain about the landscape, the skill of fishing and time spent outdoors.
Cycling
Ride a selected section of the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail and experience the Mackenzie at a slower pace. A day can combine cycling with vehicle transfers, allowing you to enjoy a carefully chosen section of the trail rather than committing to a multi-day journey. A packed lunch prepared by our chefs makes it easy to stop somewhere beautiful along the way.
Glacier Explorer
Journey into the heart of Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park for a close encounter with one of New Zealand’s most extraordinary alpine landscapes. Cruise across the glacial waters of Tasman Lake, surrounded by towering peaks, ancient ice and the dramatic forms carved by the glacier over time.
